It’s a strange new world we’re living in. The COVID-19 pandemic has altered life as we know it in so many ways. Everyone is feeling the fear, anxiety, grief, frustration, and uncertainty that has accompanied this unprecedented time. Many victims of domestic violence were already living with emotions like these. COVID-19 has only added to the intensity of their situations.

DVSN is heartened and grateful that our essential services have been able to remain operational throughout these times of stay-at-home orders and social distancing. Dedicated volunteer advocates continue to staff our Help Line and reach out to referred clients. We have been able to provide support and resources to members of our community who are suffering —  including pandemic-specific aid.

A list of COVID-19 related resources is available on our newly redesigned website at DVSN.org/resources.

Creating an updated and more robust website is not the only new digital frontier DVSN has ventured into during this pandemic. We have expanded our social media presence beyond our established Facebook page.  You can now find DVSN on Twitter and Instagram.

COVID-19 also affected our annual “Celebration of Hope Benefit” fundraiser this year. A fundraising brunch originally scheduled for May 3, 2020 had to be postponed and eventually pushed back to next year.

Mark your calendars for DVSN’s “Celebration of Hope Benefit” brunch fundraiser Saturday, May 1, 2021!

To replace the brunch this year, we went virtual with DVSN’s
20 Days in 2020” (June 1-20, 2020).

Throughout those 20 days, we flooded our social media platforms with inspiring and informative content to encourage people to donate. We shared video messages from our staff, board members, and community partners relating their experiences with DVSN and our organization’s impact. We selected moving kudos from our clients using pseudonyms to quote them anonymously. And, of course, we provided a few hard facts about the brutal and extensive impact of domestic violence.

Our fundraising goal was $40,000 (2 x $20,000 for 2020).
The total donated was $82,000!

DVSN is absolutely ecstatic to have exceeded our goal and extremely grateful to all our sponsors and donors!

Thank you for making “20 Days in 2020”
a smashing success!
