COMMEMORATING VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Each October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM),
DVSN honors all Massachusetts residents whose lives were lost
to domestic violence over the past year.
From October 2019 to September 2020, there were twelve deaths in MA.
Hear their stories as we light a virtual candle in memory of each individual.

Dan Murphy
ESPN Staff Writer. Co-author of Start By Believing
Dan Murphy is the co-author of Start By Believing. He and his reporting partner, John Barr, spent two years reporting on the USA Gymnastics sexual abuse scandal. Their book tells the story of a group of brave women who finally stopped former Olympic doctor Larry Nassar and exposed the system that enabled him to become one of the sports world’s most notorious criminals.
Murphy graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2009 and got his master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University in 2011. He’s worked as a reporter in Maryland, Hawaii, Indiana and Michigan. He was honored with a Peabody Award and the IRE Sports Investigations Award in 2019 and the EVAWI 2021 Media Excellence award. He currently works for ESPN’s investigative reporting team covering off-the-field issues in the sports world. He lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with his wife and their dog.
